Rólunk
A Párhuzamos Bibliaolvasó ötlete az Ómagyar Korpusz fejlesztése során merült fel először. Az Ómagyar Korpuszt az MTA Nyelvtudományi Intézetének munkatársai fejlesztették a Magyar Generatív Történeti Szintaxis című projekt keretein belül. A projekt első része 2009 és 2013 között, a második része 2014 és 2019 között zajlott az OTKA (most: NKFI) támogatásával (NK 78074, K 112057).
A projektek célja egyrészt a magyar nyelv történetét érintő mondattani változások rekonstruálása és leírása, másrészt az elméleti kutatást támogató nyelvtörténeti adatbázisok létrehozása. A Párhuzamos Bibliaolvasó kiegészíti az Ómagyar Korpuszhoz készült Régi magyar konkordancia elnevezésű korpuszlekérdező felületet, ugyanis míg abban konkrét nyelvi elemekre, tulajdonságaikra és környezetükre lehet keresni, itt bibliai helyekre tudunk rákeresni és a kapott találatokon összehasonlító vizsgálatokat végezni. A Párhuzamos Bibliolvasó mögött levő adatbázis a Párhuzamos Bibliakorpusz, amely egyrészt a magyar nyelv különböző korszakaiból tartalmaz bibliafordításokat, másrészt egyéb uráli nyelvek bibliafordításai is belekerülnek, ami hasznos segítség lehet az uráli nyelveket és a magyar nyelv történetét kutatók számára is. A King James Bible pedig elsősorban az angol nyelvű glosszázáshoz igyekszik támogatást nyújtani.
A Párhuzamos Bibliakorpusz és Bibliaolvasó fejlesztését és karbantartását a Nyelvtudományi Intézet Nyelvtechnológiai és Alkalmazott Nyelvészeti Osztályának munkatársai végzik. A weboldal fejlesztését eredetileg Gerőcs Mátyás csinálta, majd Mittelholcz Iván vette át. A korpusz bővítését Kalivoda Ágnes és Simon Eszter végzik. Az Ómagyar Korpuszba is bekerült szövegeken a Magyar Generatív Történeti Szintaxis projekt munkatársai is dolgoztak.

About
The idea of developing the Parallel Bible Reader has first emerged during the building process of the Old Hungarian Corpus, which has been developed by researchers of the MTA Research Institute for Linguistics within the project entitled Hungarian Generative Diachronic Syntax. The first and the second phase of the project were funded by the Hungarian Scientific Research Fund (NK 78074, K 112057).
The core aim of the projects has been the reconstruction and characterisation of syntactic change in the history of Hungarian, as well as the construction of annotated corpora which support study in historical linguistics. The Parallel Bible Reader is a supplementary tool of the Old Hungarian Concordance, which is a query interface created for the Old Hungarian Corpus. Supplementary in the sense that while users can search for linguistic elements, their context and their linguistic properties via the concordancer, biblical loci can be searched for with the help of the Parallel Bible Reader, which provides a fertile ground for comparative investigations. The database bahind the Parallel Bible Reader is the Parallel Bible Corpus, which contains several Bible translations from different time periods of the Hungarian language as well as Bible translations from other Uralic languages, which may boost research in Uralic studies and historical linguistics. The corpus also contains an English translation, the King James Version, which can be used for English glossing.
The Parallel Bible Corpus and Reader has been developed and maintained by fellows at the Department of Language Technology and Applied Linguistics of MTA Research Institute for Linguistics. The first developer of the website was Mátyás Gerőcs, later Iván Mittelholcz proceeded with this task. Expanding the corpus material and creating the content of the website has been made by Ágnes Kalivoda and Eszter Simon. Sources coming from the Old Hungarian Corpus were created by participants of the Hungarian Generative Diachronic Syntax projects.
